Mounir Akhiat
In 2021 F.C. Copenhagen upgraded the clubs analysis work with a new analytics department that works across the first team and the FCK Talent Department.
Mounir Akhiat was hired as Head of Analytics and general manager of the analytics department. He joined the club from the Danish Football Association (DBU), where he had been an analyst for the men's national team since 2016, and he joined FCK after the EURO2020 finals.
On the men's national team, Mounir analysed matches and training, and contributed to developing the work of football analysis in general at the DBU. Mounir also has an A coachinglicense.
A new department
The reason for setting up a separate analysis department was because the work of analysis and data has intensified in recent years – not only at F.C. Copenhagen but in the entire football industry.
The department must ensure that the coaching team has more resources to draw on in their daily work of analysing opponents and preparing tactics for upcoming matches, as well as analysing and evaluating training sessions and games. The analysis department has also been given a larger role during matches, and from their seats in the stands they will be continuously in contact with the coaching staff and provide input to the coaches' team talk with the players during half time.
