Vejle 2-3 FCK: Reaction

F.C. Copenhagen maintained the 100 percent start to the new season with a 3-2 victory over Vejle Boldklub on Saturday.

Goals from Jordan Larsson and Roony Bardghji before the break had the Lions in front, before Diogo Gonçalves' 70th-minute penalty made it 3-2 after a spirited VB fightback.

The Lions battled hard to see out the game and make it two wins from two at the start of the Danish Superliga season.

And FCK head coach Jacob Neestrup was satisfied with the overall performance.

"We played well for about 80 minutes and deservedly won, but it was unnecessary that the game was still in the balance right at the end," says the boss.

"Apart from that I saw a really good FCK team today, which was much more in control of the game than we were at Lyngby, which was what we wanted.

"We played a lot of attacking and entertaining football, but we can also be even better. And we should have scored more of our chances, and shouldn't have conceded twice.

"With their first goal from a corner, we knew we could risk being overpowered at set pieces with the team we had on the field today and with the strengths Vejle have in the air, so I take that on the chin.

"But the second goal was poor defensive work and should have been avoided. You can't avoid turnovers in football matches, but we have to react better than we did.

"But kudos to the players, because they kept their composure during both times when Vejle equalised. In general we delivered a really good game with lots of good plays and offensive football at a very high level.

"I think we were good on both flanks, and especially our left side seemed to hurt them. Elias Achouri fits into the team well with his speed and technique, and Christian Sørensen also played a really good game on the left side. Together with Rasmus Falk they set many good things up. I only took Sørensen off at half time because he had a yellow card."

Next up for FCK is Wednesday's second leg of the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round, aghast Breidablik.
