Valdemar Lund Jensen extends F.C. Copenhagen contract

F.C. Copenhagen's U19 captain Valdemar Lund Jensen has signed a contract extension at the club until the end of 2023, and will be promoted to the first team next summer.

Jensen joins youth team-mates Rasmus Højlund and Victor Kristiansen in securing recent contract extensions.

FCK development director Sune Smith-Nielsen expressed his delight at landing the new agreement, with Jensen having been originally sourced from one of the Lions' partner clubs.

”Valdemar received his football upbringing at two of our partner clubs, Sundby Boldklub and AB Tårnby, so it is especially big for us that he has now earned the opportunity to join the first-team squad," Sune said.

"These are the kind of good examples that help to add value to our wider project and the many clubs we work closely with.

"He is a physical and competitive player with an excellent left foot and a well-developed core game. He is tactically clever and his defensive play is incredibly strong, but he is also really good at starting the offensive game with good passes going forward.

"He always gives 100 per cent and we look forward to following him in his further development."

Third FCK talent to extend
The deal is the third of its kind in three days for young players from FCK Talent, which pleases William Kvist, who is temporary sports manager at the club.

"We believe in youth at FCK, and the three extensions this week are a solid testimony to that," Kvist said.

"It is especially exciting for us to be able to develop a central defender in our own ranks, who is good enough to try their hand at the first team. Now we look forward to testing Valdemar at a higher level, which will only benefit him in the future."

Great for the whole FCK family
Jensen himself is the regular captain for F.C. Copenhagen's U19 team and has played plenty of youth matches for Denmark.

"It's huge both for me but actually also for my whole family, who are all big FCK fans," Jensen said.

"My dad wore an FCK jersey when I was born, so I've received the love of the club from the start! Coming from Sundby and Tårnby and fighting my way up through the youth ranks to FCK now, that is the biggest thing for a player like me and something I have dreamed of since I was very young.

"I have to step up and learn a lot from the other players, and contribute what I can. I have to work hard and push, I am fully aware of that - both in the spring with the U19 team and when I begin to train with the first team. I am looking forward to it all."

FCK's U19 team currently sit third in the U19 league.
