Svensson: Our performance at FCM deserved more

F.C. Copenhagen head coach Bo Svensson believes the team deserved more from Sunday's trip to FC Midtjylland after the hosts won 2-1 in the table-topping Superliga clash.

Mohamed Elyounoussi's penalty for FCK early in the second half drew the game level at 1-1, only for Denil Castillo to grab the winner for the hosts.

Reflecting on the game, Svensson said: "Overall, I think it was a fairly even first half, and I think we were better in the second half, where we had the upper hand for the first 15 minutes after the break.

"I think we had the game right where we wanted it when they made it 2-1, but then, of course, there was a big mistake by Diant that led to that goal – something he is well aware of himself.

"But that’s football. He remains a huge asset to the club and to the style of play we want to implement, just as he was during his first spell here.

"All in all, though, I think we put in a decent performance, even if there were a few specific moments where we should have done better. For instance, there were chances towards the end where Maseko found himself in a one-on-one situation in the box, and Robert also had two fairly big chances.

"So, it’s obviously a shame that we’re leaving here empty-handed again, but I feel our performance deserved more."

Next up for FCK is our first UEFA Conference League game of the league phase on Thursday, when SC Braga arrive in the Danish capital.

Svensson added: "As I said before the match, nothing is decided yet (in the Superliga). We still have to face each other three more times, and besides, there are other teams playing well – not just Midtjylland."
