Senegalese striker joins the ranks

FC Copenhagen have today agreed to bring Senegalese international striker Pape Pate Diouf to the club. The parties have agreed on a four-year contract, which comes into force with immediate effect.

Diouf has signed from Norwegian club Molde FK, where he played 127 matches and scored 44 goals. This season Diouf has scored an impressive 12 goals in 15 matches in the Tippeliga.

Sporting Director Carsten V. Jensen commented on Diouf’s signing:

- I am pleased that we managed to get Pape to FC Copenhagen. During his years at Molde FK, Pape has evolved into a hard-working player and a top goal scorer. His intelligence on the pitch is a match for anyone. We have had an eye on Pape for a while, and I wonder if Dame N'Doye welcomes a compatriot to the club. I know it's a big loss for Molde FK in the battle for the Norwegian championship, and therefore I must also offer a special thanks to Ole Gunnar Solskjær & Co. for thier true and honest negotiation.

25-year-old Diouf will start training with the Danish champions today. He will wear the number 13 shirt, last worn by Canadian Atiba Hutchinson. Diouf himself was available for comment after all formalities had been completed:

- I've had five fantastic years in Molde, but I could not say no to Scandinavia's largest club when the opportunity presented itself. I'm really looking forward to getting started, and especially to have the opportunity to play for UEFA Champions League qualification. I know that there is greater competition for places here in Copenhagen, but I am ready to take up the fight and earn a place in the team.
