Player reaction to DBU Cup victory

FC Copenhagen won the DBU Cup for a sixth occasion this afternoon thanks to a 3-2 extra-time victory over FC Vestsjælland.

Brandur Olsen scored in stoppage time after Per Nilsson and Bjorn Sigurdarson had kept FCK in the game during the first 90 minutes.

Here, FCK.dk caught up with the Lions players to see what they made of the result and performance.

Brandur Olsen

 - It was a tough match but I think that we eventually proved that we were the strongest team. Personally, it was obviously great to come on (from the bench) and score the winning goal, it's certainly something I will remember for very long time!

Daniel Amartey

 - All I can say is I am a happy man. We seemed to do especially well after the half-time break and it was great to see Brandur score the goal that secured the victory.

Steve De Ridder

 - I am tired after that! But we showed character today. We came back for a goal down, came out with a lot of energy after the break and I think we really showed that we are a good team. And so am I very happy to stand with the trophy after 120 hard minutes!

Bjorn Sigurdarson

 - The first half was bad, that's not how we should play as players and as a club. But we talked about it during the break and in the second half we delivered a strong team performance and stood together. I’d say we worked our backsides off. Of course it was a shame that they scored late [88 minutes for 2-2] - but luckily we had Brandur in extra time. Overall, I think it was the best team that won the trophy.

Per Nilsson

 - Whew, I'm a little tired. We never really got started in the first half and it can only be described as poor. But after the break we began in earnest and our performance was much better. We showed what we can do and scored some good goals. Of course it was a pity that late on the match tied 2-2, but again we showed the will and got the winner in extra time, thanks to a great goal by Brandur. I’m winning my first trophy and I suppose you could say 'better late than never’.

Stephan Andersen

 - Yes, it was probably not the most well-played game. But that's cup football sometimes, and we got what we came for: a victory in the Cup final.
