Nicolai Jørgensen returns to FCK

F.C. Copenhagen have agreed a contract with the club's former striker Nicolai Jørgensen to bring the Dane back to the capital for the rest of the season.

Jørgensen arrives from Turkish side Kasimpasa SK, with whom he has terminated his contract.

The 31-year-old played for F.C. Copenhagen between 2012 and 2016, before he moved to Dutch side Feyenoord. There he won the Eredivisie golden boot in 2016/17 as Feyenoord won the title.

PC: We'll see what happens after six months
Now the forward returns to the Danish capital for the spring half of the Superliga season.

"Nicolai Jørgensen is still one of the most talented forward players with a Danish passport, and he knows what FCK is all about, and what expectations we have here," says FCK sports director Peter Christiansen.

"We hope and believe that together we can get Nicolai back to a really high level over the next six months, and then we have to see what happens from there.

"He himself has been very motivated to return to F.C. Copenhagen, and we are looking forward to having him around the club again.

"The goal in this transfer window in relation to our attack has been to obtain a wide selection of high-quality players that complement each other well. We now have a lot of choices and different systems to create a dynamic attack that can give us the expression we want at FCK."

Jørgensen: FCK has always meant a lot to me
Jørgensen played 137 games for FCK during his first stint at the club, where he scored 51 goals and helped win two Danish championships and two cup titles.

"I am really looking forward to being back in Parken and the club, which has always meant a lot to me," says Jørgensen.

"I still have a lot of relationships in the club and I'm back because I believe I still have a lot to contribute to F.C. Copenhagen.

"I want to prove myself here again and show that I am still a really good footballer and I want to do my very best to win titles with the club again.

"I'm really looking forward to getting started out on the field and most of all stepping into Parken again."

Thorup: A different sort of forward
In addition to Jørgensen, FCK's attacking unit has been bolstered by the arrivals of Khouma Babacar, Akinkunmi Amoo and Mamoudou Karamoro, while Jonas Wind and Rasmus Højlund have departed Copenhagen.

And head coach Jess Thorup is excited to get working with his new cohort of forwards.

"Nicolai is an incredibly skilled and game-smart striker who is still at a high level both in his link-up play and his finishing," says Thorup.

"At the same time, he's a different of of forward compared to our other strikers because he's more central and ties the game together.

"It is an advantage for his integration into the team that he already knows some of the players and staff, and his experience will also be a plus.

"I think we have a lot of good opportunities to mix up our attack in a dynamic and interesting way."

Everyone at F.C. Copenhagen welcomes Nicolai back to the city and the club, where he will get jersey no. 9.
