Neestrup reflects on tight upcoming schedule
F.C. Copenhagen head coach Jacob Neestrup says his players and staff are well prepared for the usual start-of-season fixture congestion as the Lions seek to get the 2025/26 campaign off to the perfect start.
Not only are FCK back in Danish Superliga action already but have begun qualifying for this season's Champions League in the second qualifying round.
Neestrup has overseen wins against Viborg and FC Drita so far this summer, with potentially 11 more games to come before the first international break at the beginning of September.
Vejle Boldklub are up next in Parken on Saturday (6pm) and the boss is looking forward to the challenge.
"We are well into the programme of playing every three or four days, and we will be doing that for a long time, so it's all about using the breadth of our squad so that we are fresh," says Neestrup.
"At the same time, it's also about rotating in moderation, so that we don't lose flow and rhythm."
Vejle head to Parken with a number of new players, whom they brought in this summer after the great spring, where they secured survival in the Superliga after coming back from a large deficit.
"Considering their transfer window, you have to say that they're a fairly experienced team coming to Parken," adds Neestrup.
"It will be exciting to follow them in a tight Superliga this year, but we will of course do everything we can to get the best possible start in the league, which comes during the packed schedule leading up to the next international break.
"It's a shame that Sektion 12 is closed tomorrow, because it's not ideal in terms of support for the players, as it's of course more fun to play with almost 10,000 white shirts behind one goal instead of 10,000 red seats.
"But that's how it is, and we've coped with that before. I'm sure we'll be able to hear the fans around Parken. It doesn't change our approach, we always look forward to playing in Parken and we're committed to winning. We hope we can build on our good start to the season in terms of our results."
