Neestrup reacts to 2-1 defeat at FCM

Jacob Neestrup says Sunday's 2-1 defeat to FC Midtjylland didn't reflect the balance of the game, as F.C. Copenhagen kicked off the spring half of the Danish Superliga season without any points to show for their efforts.

The game was in the balance until the final 10 minutes, when Aral Simsir and Victor Bak converted for the hosts.

Mohamed Elyounoussi pulled one back in stoppage time but the Lions couldn't find a late, late leveller.

After the game head coach Neestrup said: "We lost a completely even football match that was on for a draw until the 83rd minute.

"It was a tense match with many duels and lots of intensity on a difficult pitch, and that is typical of a spring premiere."

"I think we played solidly and with great responsibility and solidity, but we also knew that we had to take advantage of the few chances we would get and not give anything away at the other end. We can't concede the goals that we did in the end, because that is the main reason why we lost an otherwise even match that was on for a draw.

"We should have also taken better care of the opportunities we had earlier in the match, where we had both some close attempts and several near-misses when we chased down their back line. We also had many set pieces that we didn't get enough of.

"Now, as always, it's about focusing 100% on the next match on Wednesday against Viborg, and then we have to look at the last matches in the regular season, because of course the pressure is now even greater than it has been before, when we are only one point away from falling out of the top six."
