5-1 win sends FCK into Conference League playoff
F.C. Copenhagen will compete in the UEFA Conference League playoff round after beating Debreceni VSC 5-1 in Parken on Wednesday to secure an 8-1 aggregate victory in Q3.
Doubles from Mohamed Elyounoussi and Andreas Cornelius, plus an Alex Král strike, secured the win in front of 19,235 fans in Parken.
After the win head coach Bo Svensson said: "We played a really good game, maybe except for the first 5-10 minutes of the 2nd half, where we slacked off a bit.
"We created a lot of chances and scored five goals, so there was a lot of good in our offensive game, which flowed really well today. We showed again that we can score in many different ways.
"But I'm also pleased that our defence, even though their goal was unfortunate and a blemish in an otherwise solid performance. We reacted well to it and quickly got the game back under control.
"When we got to 2-1 after an hour, we could start looking forward to the upcoming tight schedule and, among other things, take out Robert and Elyounoussi, who are two of our players who have played a lot of minutes.
"And we saw again that the players who came off the bench in the last 20 minutes showed great hunger and positively influenced our game, even though several played a little out of position. So even though there is still a lot we need to work on, there are a lot of positives to take away from this game.
"The most important thing is of course always to progress, but we had talked beforehand about using the match to add a few more layers to our game, and I think the players lived up to that well tonight."
