Mateo Tanlongo joins FCK
F.C. Copenhagen have signed Argentinian midfielder Mateo Tanlongo on loan from Sporting CP until the end of the season. There is also a purchase clause in the agreement.
Tanlongo, 20, began his football education at CA Rosario Central in his native Argentina, where he played until January this year. He switched to Portuguese side Sporting and has since played 14 games.
Tanlongo plays in central midfield, primarily as a No 6, and is also an Argentina U20 international, and represented his country at the U20 World Cup earlier this year.
Christiansen: Great talent and potential
"We wanted to strengthen the squad further in the No 6 position, and Mateo fits in really well with our recruitment strategy with his great talent and potential," says FCK sporting director Peter Christiansen.
"He has already tried his hand at a big club like Sporting, and he has the tools to develop into a really skilled player. We must now develop that together."
Neestrup: Hard working and dedicated
Tanlongo is an important piece in the composition of the squad, says Jacob Neestrup.
"He is a very hardworking and dedicated player who puts the team first and wins many balls," says the head coach.
"At the same time, he plays with great intensity and aggressiveness in his pressing game and has a decent passing game."
"Now he must get accustomed to us and then he will begin competing for playing time."
Tanlongo: A great opportunity for me
Tanlongo will wear shirt No 8 this season and is looking forward to becoming an F.C. Copenhagener.
"I am really happy to be here and will work hard to settle in quickly and help the club," says Tanlongo.
"It's a great opportunity for me, and FCK are a respected club with great results both in Denmark and in European tournaments, most recently with the qualification for the Champions League again.
"Now I'm just looking forward to getting out on the training pitch and meeting all my new teammates. I'm also looking forward to experiencing Parken and the fantastic atmosphere there."
Everyone at F.C. Copenhagen welcomes Mateo to the club and the city.
