Ståle: Vi var bedst, men det er ikke altid nok

Leicester, Porto and Club Brugge

FC Copenhagen was paired with Leicester, Porto and Club Brugge in the draw for the UEFA Champions League Group Stages.

"From a sporting perspective, this group is close to being ideal when you look at what teams we potentially could have drawn," manager Ståle Solbakken told FCK.dk. "This is exactly the kind of draw I had hoped for.

"We can take points from all three teams, at least at home in Copenhagen, and then we will have to see about the away games. But history shows that it is very important to take as many points as possible at home and that is why this draw is good for us.

"The last three times we were in the Champions League group stages, the away team only won 5 of the 18 games. Manchester United won once in 2006, we and Barcelona won one each in 2010, and Real Madrid won twice in 2013."

FC Copenhagen have played Club Brugge twice in the Europa League but never faced Leicester City or Porto.

"It will be funny to meet some of our former players, Claudemir in Brugge and Daniel Amartey in Leicester, and I am sure our fans can look forward to three good and interesting home games in Telia Parken," Ståle added.
