FCK Women sign Silja Weinell
F.C. Copenhagen Women are delighted to announce the signing of defender Silja Weinell, who will wear shirt number 2.
The 21-year-old began her footballing career at FC Damsø from the age of seven to 14, before moving to FC Nordsjælland.
Weinell represented B.93 last season and is now ready to compete for a place in the Lionesses XI.
“I am looking forward to taking part in the exciting journey the club is on,” says the Swede.
“It is an ambitious club with a strong setup, a professional training environment and a squad with lots of quality. At the same time, I am looking forward to feeling the support and atmosphere from the stands.
“I want to contribute lots of positive energy and help continue the good atmosphere (in the camp), while I hope to be able to help shape an ambitious and competitive training environment.”

Klarskov: Astute and offensive right back
FCK Women head coach Kasper Klarskov spoke of Weinell's arrival, saying: “Silja is comfortable on the ball and an offensive right-back. From our past together at FC Nordsjælland I know that Silja always delivers hard work and a really good attitude. She has already shown this in her first few training sessions.
“She knows several people on the team and spent her youth days in Damsø, so she has settled in very quickly.
“She arrives with a year of experience from B.93, so she also knows the standards and our opponents.
“Silja knows that the competition is tough at right-back, but she is ready to learn, and we are more than confident that she can handle the task when the opportunity arises."
Welcome to all new players
Weinell and the season's other new players were welcomed before Saturday's home game against Esbjerg fB. From left to right: Silja Weinell, Ann-Kathrin Dilfer, Thea Rhode, Asii Kleist Berthelsen, Celine Kampmann, Anna Hemmingsen and Cecilie Byrnak.
