FCK win 7-0 in Svensson's first game in charge
Bo Svensson began life as F.C. Copenhagen head coach with a 7-0 win over Silkeborg IF on Sunday – a result that puts the Lions back in the hunt for the European playoff game.
Svensson took over as head coach of FCK during the international break and was welcomed by more than 20,000 fans in Parken Stadium.
And it didn't take long for the Lions to pounce, with Youssoufa Moukoko, Robert Silva and William Clem all scoring within 17 minuets.
Moukoko grabbed his second to make it 4-0 at the break, before completing his hat-trick on 51 minutes. Robert got on the scoresheet again just after the hour mark, before Jordan Larsson wrapped the game up 12 minuted from time.
“I am of course very happy with the victory, but especially with the performance and the way we won,” said Svensson afterwards.
“The size of the victory is not really that important to me, but it was good to see that we kept going, even after we took the lead early on. You often see teams slowing down a bit, but we didn’t, and I’m pleased with that.
“There were a lot of good elements in our game, and it's probably meaningful that we scored so early in the game, because that was perhaps something that has been missing in previous matches.
“We had some good days on the training pitch, even though some players came home later from international matches, but I think it was great to see that a lot of the things we trained on were also transferred to the game on the pitch today.
“It was something like our counter-pressure, the intensity of our game, a shared responsibility to defend and work really hard and to also constantly try to correct mistakes from teammates.
“It probably also helped that we scored on our first chances, because maybe it hasn’t gone that way in recent games, and then there was maybe a bit of a knock-on effect when the goalscoring started.
“But we also have to remember that this was only one game, and everything hasn’t just been wiped clean. There’s still a lot of work to be done, but we set a standard for what we can and must deliver when we are a club like F.C. Copenhagen. This sets a standard that we will also be able to maintain in the future."
It has been 20 years since Svensson left Parken as a F.C. Copenhagen player, and it was a very special experience for him to be back and stand on the sidelines.
“Yes, Parken is a very special place for me, and the stadium that has meant the most to me in my footballing life, so it was very special for me to be back again," he added.
"I am very pleased on behalf of both the players and the fans that we got that victory today, because everyone has been through a tough period, and the task now is to build on the many good things we did today."
