FCK beat Randers 4-0 in penultimate game
F.C. Copenhagen marinated the pace in the battle for the Danish Superliga title on Sunday with a 4-0 win at Randers in the season's penultimate game.
Jordan Larsson scored two first-half goals to put the Lions on course for three points, before Rodrigo Huescas and Andreas Cornelius found the next after the break.
The win means the Lions sit four points ahead of FC Midtjylland, who face Brøndby in their second-to-last match on Monday.
If FCM win or draw, then the title race goes down to the wire and next Sunday's home clash against FC Nordsjælland.
“We haven’t won anything yet," says FCK head coach Jacob Neestrup. "But we’ve worked hard to get ourselves in this position where we have the ball in our court, and now we have to finish the job on Sunday in Parken.
“We dominated the game today on a difficult away pitch and we were effective in the chances we created. We are in a place where our best offensive players are available, because it hasn’t been like that all spring, when players like Cornelius, Achouri and Elyounoussi have been out a lot. And we also have a strong defensive group and kept a clean sheet again today without giving away any big chances.
“So we celebrate the victory today, but nothing more, because our starting point is to get three points on Sunday in Parken against a Nordsjælland team that has often caused us problems."
Midtjylland face Brøndby in their game in hand on Monday night, meaning a defeat would hand FCK the title.
“Of course, we know that there is a very important match tomorrow night," adds Neestrup. "But we have seen before that a lot can happen in the end, so we are not taking anything for granted and are not planning to sit and watch the match together."
