F.C. Copenhagen to play with Red Cross on shirts in Spain
F.C. Copenhagen players will wear the Red Cross logo on their shirts when the Lions face Villarreal and FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League this winter.
In collaboration with our main sponsor, Unibet, the club and the Red Cross have agreed to display the charity's name on our shirts for the two away games.
FCK travel to Villarreal on 10 December, and face FC Barcelona on 28 January next year.
Gambling companies are not permitted on football shirts in Spain. F.C. Copenhagen's long-standing Main Partner, Unibet, has therefore chosen to lend the front-of-shirt space to the Red Cross in the two matches.
"The collaboration means that the Red Cross' humanitarian work will gain visibility on a major international stage when F.C. Copenhagen compete for important Champions League points in Spain," says Secretary General of the Red Cross, Anders Ladekarl.
"This visibility is very valuable to us and our efforts both in Denmark and abroad. Therefore, we are very grateful that Unibet has chosen to accommodate us."
After both matches the shirt from the Player of the Match will be donated to the Red Cross lottery. This is similar to our work in September, where we auctioned off player jerseys to the sum of almost 250,000 DKK (€33,000 / £29,000) via a special auction to benefit the Red Cross's work.
This is happening as a result of the three-year partnership between the Red Cross and F.C. Copenhagen.
