N'Doye misser en chance mod New York City FC

FC Copenhagen beat New York City FC 2-0

FC Copenhagen beat MLS side New York City FC 2-0 in their last match of the winter training camp.

FCK beat New York thanks to two goals from Robert Skov late in the second half.

And manager Ståle Solbakken was pleased with what he saw.

"It was a match that at times was played at a high pace, but there was also some struggles and hard play from both sides," Ståle told FCK.dk.

"After a slightly weak start we got a better grip on the match, which was generally solidly implemented without us being too flashy.

"They had almost no shots on target and we were very good both defensively and offensively, which was clearly approved.

“But it's one thing to do this in a training match. Now it gets serious, and it's always something completely different. It doesn't matter much if we win or lose all our training matches, more that you have a good feeling - and I think the players have.

“It was also important that Robert had taken a step up today. He has suffered with a little bit of pneumonia earlier at the training camp, but he got better and better as the game progressed and he got his goals.

"All in all, it has been a fantastic training camp under perfect conditions."

FCK players and staff head back to Copenhagen on Monday morning to prepare for our first game of the spring.

The Lions host OB in Telia Parken on Sunday, February 10.

FCK players were also on hand to discuss the New York City FC victory.

Dame N'Doye:
"It was a good match for us, and a victory in games like these always gives us a little more confidence.

"I could have put us up earlier in the game with a great chance in the first half, but unfortunately I didn't get the ball past the goalkeeper.

“All in all, we can be satisfied with the training camp. The boys do the right thing and focus on the details, and that's the most important thing to get ready for the return of the season.

“Now we have to go home to the Danish winter, but that's how it is - we must deal with that. And I've also experienced it before!"

Peter Ankersen:
"It was a lot of fun to face a team from the US and we played an excellent training match.

"They played well on the pitch in the first half and were good with the ball, but they weren't really dangerous. I think we had good control of them, and in the second half there was a big class difference.

"It seemed that they were weaker after the break, while we all showed up, and I think we had good quality.

“It was also great to score a free kick and a corner, so all in all a really nice match. I'm just a little annoyed that they cancelled out my goal because I don't think it was offside!

"It also seemed that Falk should have had penalties in the first half, but so ... it was in any case a good rehearsal."

Andreas Bjelland:
“Right now I feel heavy, but it was good to get 90 minutes into my legs, and at least I it went well out there. We were solid at the back and they didn't come up with anything special."
