F.C. Copenhagen beat Brøndby to reach Conference League

F.C. Copenhagen will enter the second qualifying round for next season's UEFA Conference League after beating Brøndby IF 3-1 in Thursday's dramatic European playoff.

Aurélio Buta but the Lions ahead in the 77th minute after Brøndby's Mayckel Lahdo had been shown red for a foul on Thomas Delaney 10 minutes earlier.

A defensive mistake by Junnosuke Suzuki allowed Mads Frøkjær to make it 1-1 shortly after and force extra time.

It took until the last moments of the first 15 minutes of extra time for FCK to find the breakthrough again, with Youssoufa Moukoko elegantly firing into the net.

FCK nerves were then put to the test when Jordi Vanlerberghe hammered the ball for a BIF leveller five minutes before time, only for a long VAR check to rule out the goal fr offside.

Brøndby didn't get any closer than that in their search for a second equaliser and instead Moukoko sealed the victory in injury time of extra time with his second of the match.

The result means FCK will once again compete in Europe next season as we enter Q2 for the Conference League in July.
