Babacar: Parken is fantastic!

F.C. Copenhagen striker Khouma Babacar says the noise the swamped the team during Monday's 2-0 derby victory over Brøndby in Parken was akin to the atmosphere in some of Italy's biggest stadiums.

Babacar started in the derby win, which saw a record 33,758 home supporters in the ground.

Two second-half goals from Pep Biel secured victory for the Lions and maintained the six-point gap over second-place FC Midtjylland at the top of the Danish Superliga.

And Babacar expressed his shock at the atmosphere generated by the home supporters during his first every Copenhagen derby.

"Parken is fantastic!" he said. "The atmosphere is like that at a high international level, and I think the atmosphere the fans create should be compared to the big stadiums in Italy.

"(Since my debut) I've immediately felt that this is a special place to play, and I was greeted by a lot of support, which is important for all players.

"But I must also be honest and say that I have been amazed at how much passion and solidarity the fans have shown during our matches. It is impressive for me, even though I have played in other big stadiums."

Discussing his first ever derby, the Senegalese striker added: "It was a really good experience for the team and for myself to feel how the whole stadium stood behind us.

"It's always better if there are fans of both clubs, but I really think our fans created an impressive atmosphere for the match. It gave us all the energy and desire to give them something in return, which we fortunately did."

The No 11 at FCK is now looking forward to taking to the Parken field again on Sunday to face Randers in the fifth fixture of the Championship Round.

"I'm really looking forward to it and we all hope a lot of fans will come again," said Babacar.

"It means a lot to us to receive the support and backing we do, especially in periods of a game where things aren't flowing right. Our fans are really good at that and they make almost even more noise when they feel the team needs extra energy.

"It's all very positive and I think we can give them a good experience again on Sunday."
