Viktor Fischer signs: It feels really good

F.C. Copenhagen have signed Denmark international Viktor Fischer from German Bundesliga side Mainz 05 for an undisclosed fee.

Fischer has signed a five-year contract with the Danish Champions and moves immediately to Copenhagen.

Manager Ståle Solbakken is very pleased with the deal.

“It is not every day we get the opportunity to sign a 23-year-old Denmark international with experience from a club like Ajax and leagues like the Premier League and the Bundesliga as well as European tournaments and the National Team. So we are really pleased that we succeeded with this deal," Ståle said.

"Viktor is a very skilled player with a great football mind and finishing skills at international top level. On top of that he is still young and eager to improve and develop.

"For several years he has been one of the most interesting talents in Europe, but since his time in Ajax, he has not found the right club. We believe that FCK is the right place for Viktor, and so does he.

"It has taken a great amount of work and patience to make this deal happen, and Viktor deserves credit as well for acknowledging the perspectives in a move to Copenhagen including the high expectations that comes with it.

"We look very much forward to benefit from his talent and strong personality in the squad."

Wants to make a difference
Viktor Fischer has previously also played for AFC Ajax and Middlesbrough FC. He is pleased to be a part of F.C. Copenhagen.

“It feels good. Really good. It has been a time – too long a time – where I have not played enough, and I need to play regularly. I sensed that FCK really wanted me to sign and that they have a plan with me. That is a thing I have missed during my time in my two previous clubs," Fischer said.

"I am very motivated to prove myself and make a difference together with the rest of the team. I am really eager to get going, and I have an urge to get better and help the club perform better.

"I am aware of the high expectations and the pressure, but most of all I am focused on becoming a strong footballer and not only a household name. I am looking forward to playing football once again and to be part of a winning culture."

Fischer can make his debut for F.C. Copenhagen on Sunday, when Brøndby visit Telia Parken for the round of 16 cup clash. Kick off is at 12.30 pm. You can buy FC Copenhagen tickets for the match here.
