New roof in Parken Stadium this spring

Parken Stadium's sliding roof will be fitted with 13,000 square metres of new roofing this spring.

The retracting roof, which makes the Parken one of the largest covered arenas in Northern Europe, will steadily be replaced over a number of weeks.

The replacement will take place at a height of 35 meters, where specialists will work under the roof via ropes while inspecting all installations in the roof's structure.

The sliding roof was installed 25 years ago to create a covered arena that made it possible for Parken to stage the final of the Eurovision Song Contest in May 2001.

The 13,000 square metre sliding roof consists of 13 steel girders that run on rails along the A and C Stands. The roof can be opened and closed in about 30-45 minutes depending on the weather conditions.

As part of the ongoing maintenance plan for Denmark's national stadium, a new roof is now being installed so that Parken can continue to host football matches, concerts and international events year-round.

The work on the roof construction will not affect the existing match and events schedules.
