F.C. Copenhagen hire new assistant coach

Kristoffer Wichmann has been appointed as a new assistant coach within F.C. Copenhagen's coaching staff.

Wichmann, 44, will focus on set pieces and replaces Sergio Almenara, who is leaving F.C. Copenhagen to be closer to his family.

Almenara has been offered a job opportunity that will allow him to be closer to his family, and F.C. Copenhagen has granted his wish to depart. Therefore, Wichmann will now take over the position.

"We naturally accept Sergio's wish to move closer to his family, who live in Finland," says head coach Jacob Neestrup. "We have greatly appreciated Sergio's qualities on a daily basis and around the players, and we wish him all the best going forward.

"Kristoffer Wichmann is a coach with great charisma and a lot of authority, which he can bring to the training pitch. He has done well in previous jobs as head coach and most recently as assistant coach in the Bundesliga. Both we and Kristoffer see it as a good opportunity for both parties, and we are delighted that he will become part of F.C. Copenhagen."

The agreement with Wichmann will initially run for the remainder of the season.

Everyone at F.C. Copenhagen wish Sergio Almenara good luck in the future and also warmly welcome Kristoffer Wichmann.
