Roony Bardghji

Roony Bardghji sold to FC Barcelona

F.C. Copenhagen have agreed the sale of Roony Bardghji to FC Barcelona with immediate effect.

Roony’s contract expires at the turn of the year, and he has an ambition to test himself in other surroundings. He has therefore chosen not to extend his contract with F.C. Copenhagen.

"We would have liked to see Roony continue at F.C. Copenhagen for longer, where together we could have developed his potential further. But we wish Roony good luck in the future and hope that he will fulfill his ambitions with a very exciting move for him," says F.C. Copenhagen's sporting director, Sune Smith-Nielsen.

Roony, 19, played a total of 84 games for F.C. Copenhagen and scored 15 goals, although a serious knee injury kept him out for the past year. The Swede joined F.C. Copenhagen when he was 14 years old.

"I have really appreciated my time here at F.C. Copenhagen, and I would like to send a sincere thank you to everyone on the staff who have taken good care of me – from my youth days at FCK Talent all the way to Number 10,” says Roony.

“I am grateful to the fans who have stood behind the team, both when we have won trophies together, but also in the difficult times. On a personal level, I will never forget your support and love – especially over the past year.

“I take many fantastic experiences and good memories with me from this special city, and of course I will always follow the club – even if it is from a distance. I am sure that F.C. Copenhagen will continue to write history and win championships.”

Head coach Jacob Neestrup says: "Roony is undoubtedly a great talent. He has shown that throughout three seasons, where he has been decisive in several matches. It has been hard and disappointing with the long-term injury, but now we wish Roony all the best in the future and say thank you for his time at the club.”

Everyone at F.C. Copenhagen wishes Roony good luck in the future.
