Svensson praises 'solid return' in Superliga start despite draw with AGF
F.C. Copenhagen had to settle for a point in a hard-fought clash with AGF in Parken on Sunday - a result that nevertheless left head coach Bo Svensson positive when reflecting on the first third of the 2026/27 season.
Robert put the Lions ahead with a thumping effort from the edge of the area on 35 minutes, only for AGF's Janni Serra to level just after the hour mark.
The 1-1 result means the Lions sit three points ahead of FC Midtjylland at the top of the table – although FCM have a game in hand – after 11 games played.
"It was a good, high-intensity match played at a high level between two good teams," said Svensson after the draw, which was played in front of 28,359 spectators.
"I felt we were the better side in the first half, where we also created the few chances that arose during that period. However, our performance level dropped during the first 20 minutes of the second half, and AGF took advantage of that – deservedly – to equalise.
"They could have scored even earlier, but fortunately we managed to regain the upper hand toward the end. With a bit more sharpness, we should have converted some of our chances. There were also a few situations where we could have created something much more significant.
"I am unhappy with those 20 minutes where our level dropped and we were, on several occasions, a step behind. For instance, when they took quick free kicks to launch counter-attacks. We need to get better at handling those situations."
However, Svensson also emphasised that his Copenhagen side faced up against a strong opponent.
"AGF showed that they have a very good team with many talented players, and they are well-coached by Jakob Poulsen," he said. "In that sense, it is actually a bit surprising to see them where they currently sit in the league table."
Satisfied with the start of the season
Sunday's result means FCK have now played 11 of the 22 regular-season games in the 3F Superliga, and overall, Svensson is satisfied.
"We made it through the qualifiers to the Conference League league phase and got off to a good start there with the win over Braga," he said. "We’ve advanced in the cup, and we’re sitting in first place in the Superliga with 25 points. So, by many metrics, we are quite pleased with where we stand.
"There are still things we need to work on, and it is obviously disappointing that we have only picked up one point from our last two Superliga matches. We really shouldn't have lost the game in Herning, and today, a poor 20-minute spell cost us the win.
"But looking at the big picture, 25 points after 11 matches is a solid return."
