Ståle: Shaktar a perfect test for us

FC Copenhagen lost 1-2 to Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk on Friday evening.

Junior Moraes scored twice in the first 20 minutes, but Carlo Holse pulled one back for the Lions just before half time.

Shakhtar could have scored more goals in first half, and also hit the post shortly before full time, but manager Ståle Solbakken was satisfied when he evaluated the game.

"It was a perfect test match for us. They came with a very strong team, while we are still struggling a bit because of injuries and players who have had extra vacation," he said.

FCK lined up without six players from spring's usual first team, but newcomers Victor Nelsson and Jens Stage got their first minutes in the white jersey and made a good impression in defence and central midfield.

Young players impressed
"Overall it was a well-played game for us, and I liked to see the young players from our academy who came in during the second half and did well against the strong Ukrainians," Ståle added.

Unfortunately, Nicolaj Thomsen had to leave the pitch with a shoulder injury that will keep him out for a couple of weeks.

Earlier this week Nicolai Boilesen suffered a severe knee injury and will be out for six to nine months, but Viktor Fischer and Andreas Bjelland should be back soon.

Also, lasts season's top scorer Robert Skov has joined the squad after competing at the U21 European Championship, and he will be available for the next game against NK Osijek on Monday.
