Rubén Sellés becomes new assistant coach

F.C. Copenhagen have hired Spaniard Rubén Sellés as our new assistant coach for the first team. Sellés will work under head coach Jess Thorup and will be ready to start work at the training ground when the team reconvene after the winter break.

Sellés, 37, is a well-known name in Danish football, where he has worked for AGF for two-and-a-half years. This summer he joined the La Liga club Valencia CF, where he has worked at their academy, and now he is returning to Denmark and the 3F Superliga.

Kvist: New inspiration and new ideas
"We are in the process of putting the country's strongest unit together around our team, and we have come a long way. With the hiring of Rubén, another piece has fallen into place, without us reaching our true goal yet," says William Kvist.

"We have always had Rubén on our list of talented people we would like to have around the team. He has strong competences both on training ground and in his analytical work, and he has good international experience, for instance from Qarabag, where he was around the team that reached the UEFA Champions League group stage - unfortunately at our expense.”

Thorup: A skilled sparring partner
"I know Rubén's strong work from his former clubs, and he already knows the 3F Superliga really well,” says FCK head coach Thorup.
"He also has international experience and has most recently worked at one of the very best academies in Spanish football.

"It also means a lot to us that he knows in depth the work of talented young players, where we have a lot along the way.
“He is undoubtedly a good coach, and we know that he has high standards. That's how it should be in a club like FCK, and I am very much looking forward to having another good sparring partner around the team, so we can accelerate our further development on the training ground and in matches.”

Sellés: I was never in doubt
Sellés himself is looking forward to returning to the 3F Superliga and not least to becoming part of FCK.

"I had a fantastic time at AGF and, when I returned to Spain, I always had an opportunity to return if the right job opened up," says Sellés.

"When FCK approached me, I immediately felt that it felt right to be a part of such a great club surrounded by talented players and coaches every single day.

"FCK is a club that wants to play with the best and knows that hard work is the basis for success with a focus on performance at all times.

"This is my mindset too, so I was never in doubt, and I look forward to getting started.”
