Neestrup: We're not performing at our level

Jacob Neestrup admits his team delivered a performance below what is expected of them in F.C. Copenhagen's 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.

The head coach spoke to FCK.dk after the UEFA Champions League defeat, saying: "We are not performing at the level that you can expect from F.C. Copenhagen when we are in Europe.

"We were far too open, and even though we faced a good team, we didn't play up to what we needed.

"It was one of the focal points that should have been right throughout. But it wasn't and we lost 4-0. We could have lost by more, and of course I am deeply disappointed with that.

"At half time we talked about the fact that there were opportunities, but we made it difficult for ourselves when we fell behind three or four minutes into the second half.

"We also made it difficult for ourselves when we got a golden opportunity with their red card. We conceded shortly after that on another conversion over 70-80 metres.

"The match was over by that point and I think it was hard for us to get over that, also partially because of the situation we are in, because of course we had hoped for more. But we just have to admit that a Champions League match at Tottenham, we are not at the level right now where we can match them.

"Therefore we still have to perform better than what we did today, and that is what we have to go home and look at. We have to look forward to the match that awaits us on Sunday, which is of course incredibly important in relation giving us a good starting point in the Superliga until after the next international break.

"The 3,000 travelling F.C. Copenhageners had hoped for a lot more, and so did we, so I am of course disappointed that we cannot at least give them a decent performance."
