Neestrup: 'We're in a difficult place'
F.C. Copenhagen head coach Jacob Neestrup admits his team is in a "difficult place" right now after the 0-0 draw with Viborg on Sunday.
The Lions largely dominated the game in Parken but couldn't force through Viborg's defence.
Reflecting on the match, Neestrup says: "We are in a difficult place as a team, where we lack the last spark of self-confidence and flow that we have had before.
"We have been hit by a period of weak results and weak performances, and this also contributes to the fact that there are things in our game that are stifled and ineffective.
"We also didn't play fast enough today, although it was a focus both before the game and at half time, but it is also something that typically happens when things are difficult and you are not at the level you want to be.
"We came out poorly in the second half, and it took about 15 minutes before we could apply the pressure we needed to, at which point we also created a number of opportunities to score.
"But we still weren't good enough in our counter-pressing and individual defensive play, so where we have previously won the ball quickly and played forward, it cost us a lot of effort today. It also meant that we didn't keep constant pressure on them, while they had some dangerous counter-attacks that we should have been better at warding off.
"We are also in a period with a lot of wear and tear on some players who have played too much compared to what they should have.
"I fully acknowledge the seriousness that we are already so many points (eight) behind in the table after 13 games, but I still firmly believe that we can work our way out of it.
"I know I've said the same thing before, but there are no quick and easy solutions. We have to work really, really hard to fight our way out of this so that things turn around and we start winning football games again."
