Morten Grahn

Morten Grahn departs for New York City FC

F.C. Copenhagen's Morten Grahn has left the FCK Talent Department to join New York City FC as their new academy director.

Morten has for the past 10 years been a key contributor to the building and development of F.C. Copenhagen's Talent Department, where he has had roles as an A+ coach, U19 head coach and most recently as Head of Player Development.

One of the best in his field
"Morten has for many years been recognised as a very professionally skilled man and one of the best in his field in Denmark," says FCL sporting director Peter Christiansen.

"Now he has a great opportunity at one of the world's largest football organisations, and at the same time an exciting adventure for him and his family in New York.

"We are of course sorry that Morten is leaving, but we have great respect for his decision and wish him all the best for the future."

Great recognition
FCK Development Director Sune Smith-Nielsen said: "It is a pity that we are losing a great individual and professional, who has been a focal point at the club for many years.

"Morten has earned this great opportunity and it is a great recognition of his skills, and also a recognition of our environment within the club.

"We develop not only the professional football players of the future, but also the employees of top international clubs, and therefore we are proud to send someone with Morten's ability abroad."

Proud of the job, but sad to depart
Morten himself will work his last day at F.C. Copenhagen at the end of July before then travelling with his family to the USA.

"First of all, I would like to thank the club, all the talented players and my fantastic colleagues that I have worked with over many years," said Morten.

"In particular, I owe Sune a big thanks for a very strong and close collaboration over 10 years. It has been a pleasure to come to work every day, and although I am happy and proud of the new opportunity, it is also with sadness that I depart."

Everyone at FCK thanks Morten for his great efforts for the club and wishes him and his family all the best in New York.
