FCK vs Brøndby to break attendance record

F.C. Copenhagen's derby with Brøndby on Easter Monday will be a sell-out in Parken.

The club can confirm that the match is completely sold out, and that fans wishing to join the waiting list for tickets that are returned to us can do so here.

All being well, Monday's game should break the attendance record for a derby in Parken since the stadium's rebuild in 2009. The record stands at 33,134 fans, who watched FCK secure a 3-2 victory over BIF in 2019.

"Throughout the season, we have raised the bar and our ambitions in terms of spectators, and we are facing an extremely fascinating match on Monday, with everything that is at stake in this derby," says director Jacob Lauesen.

"That is why we believe that the ambition must be to set a new record."

Realistic record attendance
Jacob welcomes a markedly positive spectator attendance trend, where the average figure for F.C. Copenhagen home matches right now is 22,905, which is a record level in itself.

"We could see the trend even before coronavirus, but since then it has really picked up speed," continues Jacob.

"As we have announced, our overall goal is also to set an all-time high record for spectator averages in the Danish Superliga.

"We think that is very realistic - not least in light of the massive interest in both the derby and our upcoming home games during the Championship Round, where the title will be decided."

The current record average over a season is from the 2006/07 season, where FCK had 22,667 spectators on average for Superliga home games in Parken.

No away fans
Unfortunately, the Divisional Association and police requested a ban on away fans for Monday's game against Brøndby, while there will be no FCK supporters at Brøndby Stadium on 8 May either.

This means that Parken will be full solely of FCK supporters.

"It is a pity that there are no fans present from both clubs, which we think is the best for the match," says Jacob.

"We respect the fans' right to express their dissatisfaction with the decision, but the initiative calling for a boycott is not the club's idea. We are still confident it will be a great experience and an intense match that will not be missed.

"We are very much looking forward to welcoming everyone, and we also hope to see many happy FCK fans warm up for the match in our pop-up fan environment."

FCK vs Brøndby kicks off at 4pm on Monday 18 April.
