Fans support F.C. Copenhagen during difficult time

F.C. Copenhagen supporters have come together to create new initiatives to raise funds for the club during these difficult times and transform Parken Stadium like never before.

More fans at the stadium
Football fans all over the world know how it feels being unable to go to games regularly, support your team and meet friends in the stands.

But imagine if you could still visit the stadium and cheer on your team – albeit in a different way. You walk in through the turnstiles, greet someone you know, stroll across the familiar concourses and up the stairs onto the terraces, and see the deserted but familiar stadium, with its green carpet of grass.

You might find your very own seat where you have been watching your club for years, laughing and crying with friends, singing and cheering, hugging and clapping.

The stadium is still waiting for you
Although the visit also reminds you of all that you are missing right now, you know that the stadium is still standing there waiting for you.

One day it will be yours again. And the wait suddenly feels a little shorter and more manageable as you turn around and attach a white or blue piece of plastic to your seat.

It may not look like much from where you're standing, but just like when you're at a match, your contribution is a small part of the bigger mosaic. Because if you zoom out, you'll realise you're part of a giant tifo that spreads across the grandstand.

The FCK fan mosaic has become possible because of the fantastic initiative that FCK fans have taken to supporting the club during these difficult times.

Over 620,000 DKK collected
All fans can donate an amount, and for every 100 DKK you can go to Parken Stadium at an agreed time and put your own piece of tifo in the stands. Of course, you'll do this under the safe and secure Covid-19 framework.

At the same time, you will get a numbered proof of support and a unique sticker that can't be obtained anywhere else.

More than 620,000 DKK has been collected so far, and the money goes to F.C. Copenhagen to finance various initiatives and improvements for the fans.

This is what it looked like when the entire Section 12 was covered by a tifo for the home game against Randers FC on 23 November - and for the next home game against AC Horsens on 6 December, the tifo is expected to have spread to most of the Lower C grandstand.

Sponsor initiative for support
In addition to the fan tifo, a group of F.C. Copenhagen's major sponsors have taken a special initiative to support the club financially by increasing their own exposure on the terraces.

A number of large sponsor banners have been placed on the Lower C grandstand, which are kept in the club's white and blue colours and therefore also provide a club-wide visual backdrop among otherwise empty grandstands.

"We are incredibly grateful for the support that both our fans and sponsors show with these initiatives," says Director of PARKEN Sport & Entertainment Lars Bo Jeppesen.

"Nothing can replace our fans in the stadium, but beyond the value of the financial support, it gives us extra energy in our daily work when so many people put action behind their thoughts and support the club."

F.C. Copenhagen coronavirus restrictions

Denmark and in particular Copenhagen has - like so many other places in the world - implemented many restrictions to limit the risk of Covid-19 infection, and it has hit professional football hard.

For most of the autumn a maximum of 500 people have been allowed in the stadium for match days. This includes players, managers, stadium staff, press, medical authorities, etc., which has left only around 250 places available for F.C. Copenhagen spectators in a Parken Stadium that hosts 38,000 seats.

The 250 tickets for fans are distributed among both the 12,500 season ticket holders and subscribers, as well as the many companies that have purchased seats as part of their sponsorship.

Thousands of FCK fans have therefore not been able to go to football and support their team at the stadium, but the club, fans and sponsors are constantly trying to think creatively and come up with other initiatives.
