Jubel efter scoring

Elyounoussi double as Lions beat Sønderjyske 3-1

Mohamed Elyounoussi scored twice alongside a stunning Mads Emil Madsen strike as F.C. Copenhagen beat Sønderjyske 3-1 in Parken on Monday.

Elyounoussi levelled the scores on the half-hour mark – cancelling out an early goal from the visitors – with a quick turn and shot in the box.

Madsen neatly sidefooted home into the top corner four minutes into first-half stoppage time to give FCK the lead, before Elyounoussi popped up again to convert a rebounded save with 26 minutes remaining. Sønderjyske finished the game with 10 men.

The result moves FCK up to fourth in the Superliga, a point behind top spot and with a game in hand.

After the match head coach Bo Svensson said: "I'm very satisfied with our first half, where we responded well, even though we fell behind early. We created many chances and scored two good goals and kept them from more chances.

"But I'm not satisfied with the second half, especially not at the beginning, where we took things too lightly and invited them back into the game and were lucky that they didn't get it back to 2-2 in that period.

"We got things better under control after the substitutions, where we also changed to a different system and got the third goal. But then we fell back after the red card and thought that we could play with reduced strength, and that didn't suit us.

"But all in all, I'm of course happy with the three goals and the three points in this tight schedule. A big, important and difficult match awaits us already on Thursday here in Parken against Nordsjælland."

Kickoff against league leaders FC Nordsjælland is on Thursday at 8pm. Fans can find available seats for the match at billet.fck.dk.
