FCK squad return for winter training
The winter break is over for F.C. Copenhagen's staff and players as the first day of training in 2026 got underway on Saturday.
As usual, the first day was reserved for a series of physical tests at Number 10. Elias Achouri and Munashe Garananga, who are with Tunisia and Zimbabwe respectively at the Africa Cup of Nations, naturally missed training, while Rodrigo Huescas is currently rehabilitating in Mexico.
On Sunday and Monday, the squad will train at 12 noon at Number 10 and fans can watch the training from the path along the KB facility. The players are happy to sign autographs and take selfies after training, and this takes place in the spectator area in front of Number 10.
On Tuesday morning, the squad will fly to a training camp in southern Spain until Thursday 15 January and will play two training matches against SK Brann and Sturm Graz.
After that, preparations will continue in Copenhagen towards the “spring premiere” in Parken on Tuesday 20 January at 9pm against SCC Napoli in the UEFA Champions League, where there are still some tickets available.
Historically early start
Our participation in the League Phase of the Champions League means the squad starts earlier than usual after the Danish winter break. It is not unusual for training to begin here at the start of January, but we have never played competitive matches in the first month of the year before - not even in the Royal League.
Our earliest competitive match was a Superliga away game at an empty Aalborg Stadium on Wednesday 3 February 2021, during the Covid-19 pandemic.
