F.C. København sign another international profile for the women’s team
Lucy Roberts came through the youth ranks at Liverpool FC and completed her football education at the iconic club. She made her debut in the Women’s FA Cup at just 16 years and 269 days old and subsequently became part of Manchester United’s first-ever women’s team.
Following successful spells in American college soccer, Lucy Roberts returned to Europe to play for the Danish club OB and then Swedish side Kristianstad. Now she joins the F.C. København squad.
The agreement with the central defender is part of the club’s recruitment strategy, which focuses on adding players who can contribute immediately while also supporting the team’s long-term development. Lucy Roberts represents an important addition to F.C. København’s continued efforts to strengthen the squad ahead of the decisive qualification round for the A-League.
F.C. København’s Head of Women’s Football, Romaney Pinnock, highlights the importance of adding further quality at this stage of the season:
“Lucy is a player who immediately brings quality and energy to the group, and we expect her to strengthen our squad at a very decisive moment. As we move into the qualification phase, it is important that we continue to raise the overall level and competition within the squad. This agreement reflects our ambitions and our belief in the direction we are heading,” explains Romaney Pinnock, who is supported by Head Coach Casper Klarskov.
“With Lucy, we are adding a player who understands responsibility and intensity, which will be crucial in the coming months. Lucy has already built a strong profile for herself and is known as a reliable leader among her teammates. She has a clear desire to contribute from day one, and we expect her to settle in quickly,” says Casper Klarskov.
Roberts, who is also the great-great-granddaughter of Manchester United and England legend Charlie Roberts — who played for the club from 1904 to 1913 and in 1910 became the first captain to lead Manchester United out at Old Trafford, will join the squad during January.
