Cornelius: 'I'm in a good place'

Andreas Cornelius says he's raring to go ahead of F.C. Copenhagen's UEFA Champions League showdown with SSC Napoli on Tuesday, with the Dane hoping to use his experience of Italian football to help the Lions if he takes to the field in Parken.

Speaking in Monday's pre-match press conference Cornelius, who enjoyed stints at Atalanta and Parma earlier in his career, said: "I think I'm in a good place. I've had a start (to the year) where I haven't had any injuries, and I've been able to train and play the games. So I just hope that you can see it when I also get onto the pitch.

"I still follow (Italian football) a little bit. I had a good time down there, where I learned a lot, both as a person but also as a player… I learned some new things. I think that will always mean something to me, and I think it will be fun to meet them tomorrow."

"I feel pretty good about (facing Napoli), they weren't ever a local rival because I played up north (in Italy)."

Cornelius and his teammates will also come up against former FCK player Rasmus Højlund on Tuesday, and the centre-forward reflected on what that meant for the club.

"As Neestrup already said, I think he is being used really well. He has some clear strengths, and if they are put into play, he is really strong," said Cornelius.

"It is about him being allowed to run towards the goal, use his speed and his strength and his nose for goal when he gets into that phase of the game.

"And I also know that when you are a striker, it is important to be in a place where you are used properly. Especially when you, as he is and as I am to a certain extent, have to be set up a bit and can't do it all on your own. And that is playing for him right now, I think."
