Amir Richardson

F.C. Copenhagen sign Amir Richardson

The 23-year-old central midfielder has played for Fiorentina since the summer of 2024 and has earned nine caps for Morocco.

“Amir has some obvious offensive qualities and has a dynamic playing style,” says F.C. Copenhagen’s sporting director Sune Smith-Nielsen.

“He is technically and tactically skilled, and we are looking forward to seeing him in the squad. We have been interested in him before, and now we have finally succeeded in bringing him to Copenhagen. Now he just needs time to settle in, and then we look forward to seeing him in the F.C. Copenhagen shirt.

“It was a goal for this transfer window to add a midfielder of Amir’s quality, and we are happy with that. Amir is here until the summer in the first instance, and we’ll have to see if there is a match among all parties for a permanent deal after that.

“We are continuing to work on our transfer plans for the squad, and we expect there to be more transfer activity during the window.”

Richardson was born and raised in France with his American father and Moroccan mother. He received his football education at Nice before representing Le Havre, Reims, and most recently Fiorentina.

“It’s good for me to come to F.C. Copenhagen. This is a big club that competes for trophies, and they’re doing incredibly well on the European stage,” says Richardson.

“I know that there has been a desire in the past to bring me to the club, and it is gratifying that they have now succeeded.

“I have had some great conversations with the club management, and we have discussed how I can bring my qualities to the team. I feel both secure and optimistic, and I am very much looking forward to getting started.

“I have not played much in the past six months, and I am eager to contribute and make a difference for my team. I will give everything I have to fit into the team and make a positive impression in the white shirt.”

Richardson will be given the number 25 shirt.
