Romaney Pinnock appointed Head of Women's Football at F.C. Copenhagen
F.C. Copenhagen are delighted to welcome Romaney Pinnock as our new Head of Women’s Football.
Romaney joins F.C. Copenhagen from a similar position as Head of Women’s Football at Bristol City Football Club. She will join on 1 October.
The South African also has extensive experience as a management consultant, while she founded and developed the Badgers Football Academy – a non-profit organisation that uses football as a tool to improve the lives of girls and women in Cape Town. At the same time, she has a FIFA Masters in management, law and humanities.
F.C. Copenhagen’s sporting director, Sune Smith-Nielsen, says he is thrilled with the appointment.
“Romaney brings experience from women’s football, solid management skills and an international background with a heart that beats for women’s football,” he says.
F.C. Copenhagen Women launched last summer and has become an essential element of F.C. Copenhagen's strategy, We are Copenhagen.
The Lionesses achieved promotion to the 1st Division (Denmark's second tier) in their debut season and currently sit second in the table.
When Pinnock has her first day of work in Parken on 1 October, she will be tasked with building on the women's team's impressive development and strengthening the foundations that will support the immediate ambitions of qualifying for top flight.
F.C. Copenhagen's new Head of Women's Football will report to Development Director Morten Grahn.
"Romaney has stood out in the recruitment process, showing great drive and consideration for the development of women's football. She brings strong ambitions for F.C. Copenhagen's women's team, and she will undoubtedly contribute to the development of the team, in a sporting perspective bit also commercially and operationally," says Morten.
Romaney will move to Denmark in September and is looking forward to the new challenge.
"F.C. Copenhagen's commitment to women's football is recognised far beyond the borders of Denmark, and I look forward to being part of that journey," she says.
"It is an honour to build on the already strong foundations set, and I am very eager to lead the women's team towards new goals.
"In Denmark, there are great opportunities to develop women's football in some fantastic settings and to get even more involved - both on and off the pitch. As a club, we must also contribute to this by developing tomorrow's stars and by advancing what is possible for women's football.
"It is a commitment that I am very happy to take on."
Everyone at F.C. Copenhagen welcomes Romaney to the club.
