Points shared in FCK vs FCM showdown

Munashe Garananga equalised with 10 minutes left on the clock as F.C. Copenhagen battled to a 1-1 draw with FC Midtjylland on Sunday.

The Lions had to come back from a Franculino Djü opener just 18 minutes in and eventually got their reward when Garananga headed home in front of Sektion 12.

Reflecting on the point earned, head coach Jacob Neestrup said: "Of course I always prefer to win, but all in all a draw was a fair result.

"We have had a troubled period since the last international break, both in terms of performance and results, so one point today was at least good for morale and could also prove to be very important in the end.

"I think we were in good control for most of the match, but we had difficulty creating chances, so a draw was probably a fair result. But we gave it away too many times and we need to raise our level in relation to the solidity we have previously played with in defence.

"It's of course not ideal that we first lost (Magnus) Mattsson and in recent days also lost both (Andreas) Cornelius and (Rodrigo) Huescas to injuries, and also (Thomas) Delaney today after a few minutes.

"We still have talented players, but it obviously changes the depth of the squad when we are missing these four. But I think the players today did everything they could. Mads Emil came in under very difficult conditions and did well, and (Junnosuke) Suzuki did well at right-back, even though he is a centre-back and has never played full-back before."

Many Lions players now head to their national teams ahead of the international break but the work doesn't stop back home in Copenhagen.

Neestrup added: "A single point today was OK in isolation, and even though there were mistakes here and there, I think the players did everything they could.

"But when we look back, it is of course not good enough that we have only taken six points from five home games in Parken, so as I said, we need to improve our solidity, because it's crucial for us to win our games.

"There is still time for that, because the championship has never been decided after 11 rounds, whether we have been leading or trailing."
