Neestrup reacts to 5-1 friendly win

F.C. Copenhagen head coach Jacob Neestrup says Saturday's 5-1 friendly win over AGF provided a high base level for the team as preparations continue for the return of competitive football this winter.

Diogo Gonçalves, Roony Bardghji, Victor Froholdt and Emil Højlund got on the scoresheet, while an own goal from the visitors added to the victory.

"After the first quarter of an hour, I think we started to put good pressure on them and continued with that well into the second half, where we created quite a few chances," said Neestrup after the match.

"It was a stable training game, where we had periods of really good play, and in the periods when it was less good we kept a high base level and didn't give much away."

The game was played over three halves of 45 minutes in order for both teams to give their players more minutes on the pitch.

Neestrup aded: "At the end of the second period and into the third we saw a mixture of young and older players, many of whom have done well individually, but where the collective was less prominent because the relationships aren't quite there yet."

The head coach was also pleased with the good turnout, despite the tight space at Number 10. He is of course looking forward to getting to Portugal on Wednesday, where three more matches await.

"Vavro could well have played today if it was important, and we expect Boilesen, Clem and Meling to train with us in Portugal," he said.

"Khocholava and Sander have, as announced so far, slightly longer periods to wait. Maybe Khocholava will be ready in March, maybe only in the Championship Round, and by then he'll have hardly played for a whole year."
