Boilesen og Verbic jubler efter 1-1-målet

Moscow 2-1 FCK: Ståle praises Lions

F.C. Copenhagen lost 2-1 at Lokomotiv Moscow on Thursday night but manager Ståle Solbakken was proud with the Lions’ performance.

Two goals from Jefferson Farfan either side of Benjamin Verbic’s wonder strike won it for the home side.

It means FCK will need to win their final Europa League group game - at home to Sheriff on December 7 - to stand any chance of making the knockout stages.

But Ståle was happy with what he witnessed in Moscow.

"We delivered a very strong performance against the best team in Russia,” Ståle said.

“I am particularly pleased that we showed a strong mentality after going a goal down, although we are in a difficult situation at the moment.

“But we got back into the match and settled down and there were periods that we dominated.

"They started the game well and went ahead through their first chance and I was a little worried.

“Since we met them at home, they have only had a single defeat at home to FC Sheriff, otherwise they have been incredibly stable and, for example, beat Zenit 3-0 away.”

Sheriff beat Zlin 1-0 in the other Group F game tonight, meaning FCK must beat Zlin in their final game and hope Lokomotiv at least draw at Sheriff at the same time.

Next up for the Lions is a home game against Lyngby in the Alka Superliga on Sunday.
