Mattsson delight at match-winning penalty

Magnus Mattsson came off the bench to score F.C. Copenhagen's winner in the 3-2 result at Viborg on Friday – and the 26-year-old was delighted to help the Lions to three points in the season-opener.

Mattsson was felled just moments after coming on the field and stepped up to covert the spot kick under pressure in Jutland.

"It was a fantastic feeling to come off the bench and help the team and my teammates, and I'm really relieved that we got three points today," said Mattsson afterwards.

"To be honest, I actually think (the foul) was a bit 50/50, because my touch hit the ball a bit long, but I just think he came in with too much force, right into the stomach.

"I think it's a penalty myself, but I haven't seen it again, but that's how I feel, that there's a bit too much speed in that collision in the box.

"It got too hectic at the end, where they had three big chances in the last 10 minutes, and that's just not good enough. We're too passive there, and we need to be better.

"We gave Viborg the opportunity to equalise and find a winner if they'd have been sharper, so there's something we need to look at and be better at in the final phase."
