Larsson: Glad I came on and helped the team
Jordan Larsson says he was happy to help his F.C. Copenhagen teammates earn a point in Tuesday's UEFA Champions League showdown with SSC Napoli, after he came off the bench to find the leveller in Parken.
The Lions were a goal down when Larsson converted the rebound from his own saved penalty midway through the second half, to make it 1-1 on the night.
And FCK held on with 10 men to secure a point in the League Phase, with FC Barcelona coming up next week.
"It wasn't the best penalty I've ever taken in my life, but sometimes you can be a little lucky when the keeper gives you a rebound, and you also have to be ready for it, and a goal is a goal," said Larsson.
"I'm happy that I could come in and help the team in a very difficult period, when (head coach Jacob) Neestrup wanted someone in who could run and run, and try to challenge them in a different way than with Corner, and with Dadason as long as he played.
"It was difficult, because we were often very deep, so there was a big gap when we got the ball, but we also had other opportunities to take advantage of.
"It was a fantastic effort, where we fought and defended really well, and under the circumstances we have to be satisfied with a point against a top team like Napoli."
Next week the squad will head to Barcelona the last round of the League Phase. Larsson played youth football at FC Barcelona from 2004-06, while his father, Henrik Larsson, played for the club.
