F.C. Copenhagen say farewell to Nils Koppen
Nils Koppen is moving to West Ham United, where he will become Director of Recruitment.
Koppen has served as interim Technical Director at F.C. Copenhagen since February, and the 41-year-old Belgian is already well underway in coordinating and handing over the club's transfer activities to F.C. Copenhagen's new Director of Football, Kristjaan Speakman.
"Nils has taken on a great deal of responsibility at a time when the club needed it, and we are incredibly grateful for that. He has delivered outstanding work," says F.C. Copenhagen's CEO, Jacob Lauesen.
"Nils has been in demand the whole time, so we knew we probably had him on borrowed time. We wish him good luck in England, with our sincere thanks for his efforts.
"Our Director of Football, Kristjaan Speakman, is in place and will lead the club into the future. Nils and Kristjaan are far along in handing over responsibilities, and Kristjaan will continue working on the concrete plans and objectives for the transfer window in close collaboration with Bo Svensson.”
Koppen joined F.C. Copenhagen in the autumn of 2025, bringing experience from Rangers FC, PSV Eindhoven and KRC Genk. He now continues his career at West Ham United.
"I would like to say a huge thank you for the opportunity I was given here in Copenhagen. I've been very happy during my time at the club - it has been a great learning experience, and I've met a lot of good people," says Koppen.
"I've simply been given an offer I can't refuse, but I won't be leaving F.C. Copenhagen until I've ensured a proper handover of the ongoing activities. We are already well along in the process, so I would like to thank everyone in and around F.C. Copenhagen - I wish the club all the best going forward."
