FC Basel 1-1 FCK in UCL play-off first leg
F.C. Copenhagen take a 1-1 draw back to the Danish capital next week for the second leg of the UEFA Champions League play-off with FC Basel following a tense match in Switzerland on Wednesday.
Gabriel headed in the equaliser for FCK in first-half stoppage time after Xherdan Shaqiri had put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot 14 minutes in.
Jordan Larsson and William Clem both went close to scoring for the Lions on a professional European away performance, which restricted Basel to occasional, sporadic attacks.
Andreas Cornelius converted in the 87th minute for Jacob Neestrup's side but a VAR check showed the Dane was offside.
Still, a 1-1 performance at the Swiss champions means the play-off is in the balance heading into the reverse fixture in Parken next week.
