Lions sign Daniel Amartey
FC Copenhagen have agreed to sign versatile Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey from Swedish club Djurgårdens IF
The 19-year-old as signed a five-year contract and joins the Copenhagen squad with immediate effect.
FCK manager Ståle Solbakken spoke to FCK.dk about the new arrival:
- In Daniel we have secured the kind of versatility that every coach and squad want in a player. Despite his young age, he has already led the way as a central midfielder in a top Swedish club as Djurgårdens are.
- Daniel is already held in a high regard, not least because of his physique and football understanding, but for his potential as a player to go further. He will, both in the short and the long term, boost the quality, competition and flexibility of our squad.
Amartey himself spoke to FCK.dk to discuss his arrival in the Danish capital:
- I am very happy right now because my future is in a club like FC Copenhagen, which I am very proud to be a part of. Copenhagen has been my only priority, because I had from the beginning made up my mind that the only clubs in Scandinavia I wanted represent were Djurgårdens and FCK.
- It's a huge club and the team FCK is building, I believe, will be able to create something great. I look forward to helping that happen.
Amartey will wear the number 18 shirt in PARKEN and yesterday joined his new teammates for a training session at Number 10. He has so far made two appearances for the Ghanaian U20 national side.
