What about kids who don't make the grade?
Mark Olckers says that it's never easy to let boys leave.
"We had to release two boys not so long ago and it's never an easy task. But going into their last months here they knew that they were going to be leaving. It's not that they weren't talented, it was just time for them to move on. I believe both boys have since gone to PSL clubs and impressed in trials they've had. I wish them the best of luck. The fact of the matter is at the end of the day we are one bog assembly line and we have to move boys through the system. It's a long process and to get to a finished product, we have to put a lot of work, effort and money into each boy here. Some of them don't make it and we have to move them on. Not everyone is going to become a professional footballer."

What type of success has the program enjoyed?
Mark Olckers says that the program is starting to churn out some gems. Besides the 11 players that have gone to represent South Africa at National U17 levetr, the latest success story is that of Elrio van Heerden. Elrio started at the school on 4 february 2000. Since arriving there he has represented the National Team at U17 level and U20 level. At one stage he spent some time with Ajax Cape Town but was turned away by the club. Recently, Zuma's FC Copenhagen came to train in Port Elizabeth and so impressed the coach of FC Copenhagen that they offered the youngster a four year contract with them. "Styles", the nickname given to him by his teammates, is currently in Denmark with his new club.

What do players eat?
Even the diets of all the players are strictly monitored and the school makes sure that the youngster get the correct nutritional value from their food. Food is essential in the development stages as this can ensure proper muscle and bone development in players.
