Lions sign Swedish goalkeeper
FC Copenhagen have agreed the loan signing of Swedish goalkeeper Robin Olsen for the rest of the season.
Olsen, 26, joins from Greek club PAOK FC and will finalise his switch on Tuesday.
Manager Ståle Solbakken explained the injury to Stephan Andersen, who broke his ankle during training last week, was the reason for Olsen’s arrival.
- After Stephan’s injury that could keep him out for three months, and our sale of Jakob Busk recently, we have assessed our goalkeeper situation, Ståle said.
- We concluded that the risk of suffering another injury is too large and that the gap from our U19 team is too far, although we do not distrust the talent our keepers have.
- It is important for us to ensure a greater quality keeper who can compete on equal terms with the other two. Then we'll see who takes the place (in goal).
- We know Robin really well as a person and we have seen him plenty of times in action for Malmo FF in the Swedish league, the Champions League and the Swedish national team.
- We are delighted that we have found the solution from a good discussion with Frank Arnesen at PAOK.
