Jørgensen brace inspires 4-0 victory

Four goals in the first half earned Ariel Jacobs’ side a comfortable victory against AaB on Sunday evening, Nicolai Jørgensen stealing the show with an early brace.

Three changes were made from FCK’s Europa League defeat against Stuttgart in midweek, with Michael Jakobsen replacing Ragnar Sigurdsson in the middle of defence. Nicolai Jørgensen earned his first start in a month on the wing, while Christian Bolaños started on the right.

Jakobsen was immediately in the action, bringing down Nicklas Helenius after two minutes to receive a yellow card from referee Lars Christoffersen. Just five minutes after the incident, Jakobsen assisted in Copenhagen’s opening goal when the defender flicked on Claudemir’s long throw into the box. The ball fell to Jørgensen who, quick as a flash, prodded the ball into the net before any AaB player could react.

FCK continued their positive start and Jørgensen forced a good low save from Nicolai Larsen, but from the resulting corner the Lions winger made it 2-0. Jørgensen met Pierre Bengtsson’s out-swinging cross to nod across the face of goal and into the top right-hand corner for his second of the game.

Four goals before the break!

On 18 minutes César Santin almost made it three when he broke from Lasse Nielsen, latching onto Bolaños’ throughball before shooting left of Larsen, but his effort flew narrowly wide of the post. Moments later and Claudemir jinked from his inside-left position to receive a Santin pass and shoot on site, only to see his goal-bound effort deflected away by AaB’s defence.

The PARKEN faithful would not have to wait long for 3-0 however, when Andreas Cornelius rose high with AaB’s Kenneth Emil Petersen to head home a high cross and firmly place the Lions in control just 25 minutes in. Replays suggest the ball may have come off Petersen last, but no doubt Cornelius will claim it himself!

Santin and Bolaños twice combined five minutes before the break but the striker couldn’t finish either cross handed to him by his South American team-mate – fluffing one chance from four yards. However, AaB’s Patrick Kristensen pulled back Bolaños in the next phase of play, conceding a penalty from which Santin blasted home for 4-0!

Second-half shut out

The second half started far slower, with Aalborg more competent in the centre of the field. Exactly a quarter of an hour went by until the first effort on goal: Bolaños pulling wide a long-range left-footed effort. Only another deflection prevented Claudemir from scoring after the Brazilian ran on to the loose ball.

Sixty-eight minutes in and Lars Jacobsen came off for Christoffer Remmer, with FCK happy to pass across their back four and retain possession. Danny Amankwaa entered the field for Jørgensen soon after to ignite some pace into the game. With 12 minutes to go Cornelius had a great opportunity to make it five, but he headed Pierre Bengtsson’s cross over from six yards out.

AaB’s Mathias Wichmann gave Christensen reason to stay alert with eight minutes left – shooting into the keeper’s hands – while Bengtsson hit the byline before striking at Larsen as the game ticked to a close. The victory means FCK move six points clear at the top of the Superliga after 16 games.
