Jørgensen makes move permanent

FC Copenhagen have decided to exercise a purchase option for striker Nicolai Jørgensen. A permanent switch from German side Bayer Leverkusen for the 21-year-old has been agreed and Jørgensen will sign a contract until summer 2016.

Jørgensen arrived in PARKEN during the summer on a one-year loan. Part of the agreement meant FCK had the opportunity to make the move permanent if they so wished, and the club has decided to exercise this right.

Sporting director Carsten V. Jensen spoke to FCK.dk about the deal:

- This is quite a natural development considering the start Nicolai has had with us. He has taken to his new surroundings and exploited the opportunity he has been with us, to find his level again and continue his development.

- Nicolai has shown a great willingness to be a part of FC Copenhagen by working hard on the training ground and in matches, always a prerequisite for success with us. We believe Nicolai has the potential to succeed here and the decision to bring him to FCK was not a difficult one. We believe that Nicolai can be even better at FC Copenhagen and we look forward to continue working with him.

Jørgensen has previously publicly stated his desire to become a permanent part of FC Copenhagen's future and therefore the decision of the clubs management is good news for the young offensive player:

- I am very glad with this agreement. It is certainly what I've wanted since I came to FC Copenhagen. I have to thank my teammates and staff at FCK who helped me find my feet quickly and I know that here I can develop myself even more and hopefully help the club and the team to even more victories and titles, said Nicolai Jørgensen.

In the coming days FC Copenhagen will go through the details of the agreement with Leverkusen before Jørgensen can be confirmed a permanent FCK player.

Jørgensen has played 11 games for the Lions since joining in the summer, scoring four goals.
