Ragnar Sigurdsson forlænger til 2021

FCK extend Ragnar Sigurdsson contract

F.C. Copenhagen and Ragnar Sigurdsson have agreed to extend the Icelander's contract until the summer of 2021.

Sigurdsson is enjoying his second stint at FCK, having initially played for the club between 2011 to 2013.

He returned to Copenhagen via Russian and English football in January 2020 on a contract for the spring season. Now it has been extended by another term.

"Ragnar really wants to play for FCK and has also shown that he values the club very highly with the new agreement," says manager Ståle Solbakken.

"He is an experienced, competitive, strong and uncompromising defender with a strong winning nous who knows our way of playing football.

"At the same time, he also has a big goal of being part of Iceland's national team that can compete in the European Championships next summer, so the motivation is still great, even though he has experienced a lot as a player.

"We now have the opportunity to build Ragnar's physique with a pre-season, and he showed with his recent performances that he is still a stable and strong defender. We are happy that he continues in Copenhagen.

"The central defence is one of the places we analyse, and where there can be more changes and reshuffles towards next season. Therefore it is also good to have a little continuity via this agreement.”

Sigurdsson is also looking forward to continuing in the white jersey.

"FCK is my club, and Copenhagen has become my home,” he said.

"I love playing for the club and the fans at Telia Parken, and it was a goal for me to make myself deserving of a new contract when I came back, so I'm really happy to continue here.

"I have to work hard to be as fit and good as possible, so I can give everything I have to help the club and the team meet our goals and ambitions.”
